"Daddy Warbucks"

video

Today is my dad's birthday. 27 years ago (coming up in February) he took a chance and adopted me so today I wanted to thank him in song as it is a milestone birthday for him today as well. There will never be enough words to thank him for all that he's done for me but this is a start. Happy Cake Day Dad! *hugs*

What's New?!

Over the past month I've been busy with a new video project for my single "Paralyzed". There's still a couple scenes to shoot still but things are looking really good so far. The male lead is played by Nathan Wedderburn who also played my "boyfriend" in my "Get Me Thru" music video.

Of course there's always new music. Recently I released my latest exclusive "Hot Water" which is a twisted story about a husband who murders his wife and lover after he finds out about the affair and love child. This track was produced by Foley who is a very talented producer. His work will also be included on my sophomore album Dose 2.

"Precious Love"

Our latest custom song was done for a very dear friend of mine that is about to have her first child! We all know babies are such a special gift so I instinctively titled it "Precious Love". The proud mom-to-be informed me that she loved her song so that's great news to us as we love to put smiles on our friends / fans & client's faces! We're so happy for both her and her boyfriend and wish them all the best  =D

Virtual Collabs

The majority of the music I create is inspired by the many happenings and people in my life. Every once in a while though it seems to come outta no where and this is what I like to call instant inspiration. I randomly came across this producer from BC online Tham Moyo who is freely sharing his instrumental EP. I decided to download it as I always like discovering new music and talent. The very last beat I was completely drawn to. This led me to instinctively come up with a concept, the lyrics and then I recorded the song in a 2 day turn around. "December Rain" had been born. I sent him the song, he thought it was cool and I released it. It's getting positive feedback so I'm very pleased with that. Now realize this producer and I are total strangers to one another but musically we'll always be connected.

Specyal Music Fact: December Rain is the first song I've released to date that I'm only singing on!

Marathon Performance #2

This year for Mother's Day, we kicked things off by entertaining the marathon runners for the Sporting Life 10K. Although it started out a little rainy, the sun did eventually come out. The runners came in droves and were great sports as a lot of them waved and gave thumps up as they passed by. We had a 2 hour set yet it seemed to go by so quick we wish we could've stayed longer! From what we saw it looks like a lot of kids will get the chance to go to camp this year and we couldn't be happier for all of them =D

Marathon Performance

This year S-T-P wanted to show their support by hyping up the runners and their supports with some live entertainment. Although there was an equipment hiccup at the beginning, Catherine Marie and I were able to pull out our set because as they always say the show must go on! The runners seemed to really enjoy "Sweat It Up!" the most as they waved and gave thumbs up to us as I was performing it =D

This Sunday we will be showing our support at the Sporting Life 10K.

Introducing "Jayde Wisdom"

After doing a couple exclusive's last year which really weren't exactly what Specyal T would do, and now with some of the new music and subject matter I've been working on has made me come to the realization that I do in fact have an alter-ego! She goes by the name of "Jayde Wisdom" and she's got a little more attitude, she's definitely more forward, will tell ya how it is, and she goes into subject matter most would shy away from all together! Once a month she may drop some new music. First up is one from last year "Purple Linen"

Virtual Reunions

In the later half of last year I posed a question on Facebook about if someone from our graduating class were to throw a party / reunion would you attend? Now I didn't get much of a response but I'm sure I peaked some interest. It's now a new year and it also marks 10 years since leaving high school for me. To commemorate I decided to share some "Specyal High School Fun Facts" with friends on Facebook as a large portion are from high school. I felt it would be fun to reminisce while other friends who are from other parts of my life could learn a little more about me. I was only gonna go up to June just giving one fun fact a month but as I started to get into it, so many memories started coming back that I added "bonus facts" as well. I think now I may even go the whole year just for the hell of it.

I'm even learning some things. For example this month's fun fact is about how in Grade 11 French a group of us made a movie for a class project. My character had to audition so I was dancing in this one scene. Let's just say a part of me was shown that I wasn't intending on and a few more people than just my French class viewed it ha ha. Although the memory is far from gone, I felt the video must have been but sure enough I was informed it still exists!

My fellow high school alum seem to be enjoying these so I stated again last week that someone should have an actual party instead of just the virtual one we've been apparently involved in on in on going basis. That in real time we could all chill and reconnect and share stories and fun times. A few more seem to like the idea but I wonder will anyone step forward and actually make it happen or are we all just gonna wait for someone else to do it? Have we all become lazy with the age of Facebook and "social media" ? We would rather just take the convenience of sitting in front of a screen (in house clothes or underwear) not worried about outer appearance at all while engaging with people we once were so close to like old times? Or are we still just scared of meeting face to face, the judgements and criticisms that come so common with these gatherings?

I definitely need some feedback on this one. What would you rather have: a virtual reunion or a face to face gathering? I'm very interested in reading your thoughts on this.

Until The Next Episode...

In Memory Of Sarah Burke

Thinking of Sarah today and sending out condolences to her husband and family. Along with being such a sweet, kind and caring person she was also such an inspiration in sport and in her life. She fought very hard to have Woman's half pipe in the 2014 Winter Olympics and because of her many efforts it will be so! A true champion!
You will be very missed Sarah!

Take Me Home (Music Tribute)

I wanted to share this musical tribute that Catherine Marie wrote for her friend's dad who's battling brain cancer. She is donating $1 (up to $200) to the Canadian Cancer Society for every name that is written in the comments section of this video, of someone who has either battled or is currently battling cancer. This hits home for me personally because when I was seven my adoptive mom passed away from ovarian cancer. So please spread the word and support cancer research!

"Keep It Classified!"

Last night Catherine Marie & Ashton Williams stopped by The Pastry Shop to record a demo for CM's new track "Classified" off her up coming debut EP. This song is about a love triangle with CM being torn between two lovers who are also friends and her not wanting to end things with either. Her boyfriend has no idea about any of this while her "lover" (Ashton) just wants her to choose him and "classify" their relationship. CM would rather just keep the whole thing Classified!

These two sound really good together and the record is coming along nicely! Check out some covers they have done together!

Over the next few weeks CM will be in studio recording her EP so stayed tuned =D

A Specyal Opinion: "I Gave Everything!"

My first Specyal Opinion of the year and how fitting that I talk about a reality show and The Bachelor no less. With each season, and I've pretty much seen them all, it seems to just get more and more drama filled or those producers are just getting way better at casting pure "gems" to help the show along! Because as we all know it's all about the love right?! (cough).

It was a typical season premier getting caught up with the new bachelor, recapping what went wrong a season prior and meeting his new prospects. Between the boofon hats, a smitten granny and even an entrance on a horse, one contestant really took the cake for me last nite; New York city based blogger (and self proclaimed "over analyzer") Jenna Burke. This woman seemed to be on edge from the get go and didn't waste anytime tryna ruffle feathers which ended up seeming to be just her own lol. Apparently she had an issue with Monica (a dental consultant) because she wasn't as taken by the bachelor like she was and this made Jenna rather hostile and unpredictable. She later was comforted by another contestant who was just tryna keep the peace. Even Ben tried to figure out what was wrong but to no avail, she quickly ran to the washroom freaking out saying she can't take it and she gave everything (of course with it only being a couple hours into opening nite and all ha ha). As the rest of the ladies awaited the start of the 1st rose ceremony it was clear Jeanna was missing and thus unofficially awarding her the "ms. extra" award of the nite and possibly the season.

And as all drama filled shows go the producer's... (ahem) I mean Ben waited until the final two roses which went respectively to Monica and Jeanna because of course tryna pick up a woman and giving her unwarranted praise and complements on her looks plus locking yourself in a bathroom claiming you've given it your all, really shows "true" love connections!

With the preview of the upcoming season, it could just be one for the record books!

Until the next episode...
